Hallvard was a young Norwegian nobleman of Husaby who, around 1043, was slain by arrows while sheltering a defenceless pregnant woman falsely accused of theft. His killers weighted his body with a millstone and cast it into the fjord, but it rose to the surface and exposed the crime; he is honored as a passion-bearer and patron of Oslo.
