Lea of Rome
Lea (died c. 384) was a Roman noblewoman who, on being widowed, renounced her wealth and worldly standing to enter an ascetic community of consecrated women, over which she came to preside. Devoting herself to prayer, fasting, and humble service, she is known chiefly through a letter of St Jerome, who held her up as a model of the hidden Christian life.
