Saint Maria Brâncoveanu
Wife of the martyred prince Constantine Brâncoveanu and mother of eleven children, a patron of printing and of libraries in Romanian, Greek, Slavonic, Arabic, Turkish and Georgian. Taken with her family to Constantinople in 1714, where her husband and four sons were beheaded before her, she was exiled to the Black Sea coast and returned to Bucharest in 1716, bringing her dead home for burial in 1720.
