Saint Platonida of Argeș

Daughter of the Serbian despot Jovan Branković, she married Neagoe Basarab of Wallachia in 1505 and with him raised the monastery church of Curtea de Argeș, consecrated in 1517. Widowed and bereaved of three of her six children, she was tonsured a nun as Platonida in 1545 and ended her days at Sibiu.
