Born in the valley of the Bistrița and tonsured young at the Silvestru Skete, she withdrew to a cell on Mount Ceahlău for prayer and fasting. Disciples gathered around her at the clearing since called Poiana Maicilor, and she ended her life in the wilds below the peak, where her relics remain hidden.
