A Moldavian boyar's daughter married into the Brâncoveanu family, who spent her great fortune on hospitals, churches and monasteries and founded the Brâncovenesc hospital for the poor in Bucharest. Widowed in 1832, she withdrew to Văratic Monastery and was tonsured there in 1840.
